Album
Splinter
Splinter is the seventh studio album by the American punk rock band the Offspring, released on 9 December 2003 by Columbia Records. It followed Conspiracy of One and came at a turning point for the group: long-time drummer Ron Welty was fired three weeks before the recording sessions began, making this the first Offspring record made without him.
It didn't match the success of the band's earlier albums, and reviews were average, but it still did solid business. It entered the US Billboard 200 at number 30, selling around 87,000 copies in its first week, and went gold two months after release. "Hit That" and "(Can't Get My) Head Around You" were the singles, while "Spare Me the Details" also came out as a single but charted only in New Zealand. It's worth hearing as the record that marks a change in the band's line-up.
