Album
Americana
Americana is the fifth studio album by The Offspring, the California punk rock band, and it arrived on 17 November 1998. It followed a worldwide tour for Ixnay on the Hombre, after which the band started work in July 1998 and spent about two months recording. Dave Jerden produced, for the second and last time with the group.
It sits just behind their 1994 breakthrough, Smash, as their biggest seller, with more than ten million copies sold worldwide. It entered the US Billboard 200 at number two, their highest placing, and gave them three hit singles: "Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)", "Why Don't You Get a Job?" and "The Kids Aren't Alright". Worth hearing for those songs alone, it also captures the band at their most widely heard, and a world tour followed, taking in Woodstock '99.
