The Battle of Mexico City
The Battle of Mexico City is Rage Against the Machine's second video release, filmed at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City on 28 October 1999. It comes from the tour for their third album, The Battle of Los Angeles, and it was the band's first show in the city, chosen because of their long-standing support for political causes in Mexico.
It arrived on 20 February 2001 through Sony Music, first on VHS and then on DVD. The DVD adds a one-on-one interview with Noam Chomsky and a message from Subcomandante Marcos, which suits a band whose politics were always part of the show. It reached vinyl as a Record Store Day exclusive on 21 July 2020, and landed on streaming services that October.
