The God That Never Was

The God That Never Was is the seventh studio album by Swedish death metal band Dismember, released in February 2006. It followed Where Ironcrosses Grow from 2004 and came two years before the band's self-titled album in 2008, so it sits late in a run of records that began with Like an Ever Flowing Stream in 1991.

The American release came through Candlelight Records USA on 7 March 2006. The album produced a music video for "Trail of the Dead", a useful starting point for anyone wanting to hear how the band sounded in the mid-2000s. For listeners who know the early Swedish death metal records, it makes a natural next step in following Dismember's story.
