Stadium Arcadium
Stadium Arcadium is the ninth studio album by Red Hot Chili Peppers, a double album released on 5 May 2006 on Warner Bros. Records. It began life as a planned trilogy, with an instalment every six months, before the band condensed it into two discs. It brought them their first US number one and spawned five singles: "Dani California", "Tell Me Baby", "Snow (Hey Oh)", "Desecration Smile" and "Hump de Bump". There was also their first fan-made video, for "Charlie".
What makes it worth hearing is how much of the band's story it gathers up, drawing on styles from across their career, from funk rock to broader alternative rock. Anthony Kiedis put the good mood down to a calmer band, with less of the old struggle over lyrics. The record won four of its seven Grammy nominations, including Best Rock Album. It was John Frusciante's last record with the band until Unlimited Love in 2022.
