Honky

Honky is the ninth studio album by the American band Melvins, released on 5 May 1997 through Amphetamine Reptile Records. It sits between Stag, from 1996, and The Maggot, from 1999, in a catalogue that stretches from the late 1980s onwards and keeps changing shape from record to record. The material places it in alternative and experimental rock, which suits a band never keen on repeating itself.

The detail people tend to remember is the closing track, "In the Freaktose the Bugs are Dying", which ends with more than 25 minutes of silence. It's a cheeky way to finish an album, and it rewards anyone who likes their rock records with a bit of mischief. Honky has also not been added to streaming services, so tracking down a physical copy is the way in.
