Tres cabrones

Tres Cabrones is a Melvins album released on 5 November 2013 on Ipecac Recordings, sitting in the stoner rock and sludge metal camp. The title translates from Spanish as "three bastards". It marks the first official album appearance of Mike Dillard, the band's original drummer, who had previously turned up only on the archival Mangled Demos from 1983 and a scattering of compilations and bootlegs. Dale Crover, the current drummer, moves over to bass for the occasion.

Much of the record gathers material first issued in limited form, including tracks from a 1983 EP, the Gaylord 7-inch and the BASH 13 compilation. "Walter's Lips" is a cover of The Lewd, while "Stick Em' Up Bitch" runs through its own lyrics and rhythm before turning into The Pop-O-Pies' "Fascists Eat Donuts". It's a good one for anyone curious about the band's earliest line-up.
