Tarantula Heart
Tarantula Heart is the Melvins' 27th studio album, released on 19 April 2024 through Ipecac Recordings. It arrived in the middle of a busy stretch for the American band, following a run of releases in 2021, 2022 and 2023, with Twins of Evil coming later the same year.
The record was made in two sessions: the first in May 2022 with Roy Mayorga on drums and synths, the second in January 2023 with guitarist Gary Chester. It uses dual drum parts, and vocalist Buzz Osborne has said they approached it differently from any other Melvins album. The band's own press release calls it possibly their most unconventional, catchiest and most imaginative work yet, which makes it a fine place to hear how restless they still sound.
