Slithering Slaughter

Slithering Slaughter is an EP from Melvins, released on 11 April 2021 through Amphetamine Reptile Records. It arrived in the same year as the band's albums Working With God and Five Legged Dog, so it sits in a particularly busy stretch for a group that has rarely slowed down.

For anyone tracing the Melvins story, it is a small but telling stop on a path that began with Gluey Porch Treatments in 1987 and has since taken in dozens of studio albums, from Bullhead and Stoner Witch to Tarantula Heart and Thunderball. The label is worth noting too: Amphetamine Reptile is a name with its own place in heavy, noisy American rock, which makes it a fitting home for a short release from this band.
