Album
Bad Mood Rising
Bad Mood Rising is a Melvins album, released in August 2022 on Amphetamine Reptile Records. It arrived in a busy stretch for the American band, following Working With God and Five Legged Dog, both from 2021, and coming a year before The Devil You Knew, the Devil You Know. Its place in the catalogue is typical of a group that has kept putting out records since Gluey Porch Treatments in 1987.
The music sits across sludge metal, alternative rock and stoner rock, the heavy, slow-grinding territory the Melvins have helped define for decades. It reached streaming services on 30 September 2022. For anyone who has followed the band from their early records, it is another chapter in one of rock's most prolific back catalogues, and a way into their recent work.
