Album
Of Kingdom and Crown
Of Kingdom and Crown is the tenth studio album by American heavy metal band Machine Head, released on 26 August 2022. It is their first concept album, set in a futuristic wasteland where two characters, Ares and Eros, each go on a killing spree after losing someone they love. It also introduced drummer Matt Alston, and it remains the only Machine Head record to feature guitarist Wacław Kiełtyka, who joined in late 2019 and left in early 2024.
The record arrived after Catharsis (2018), an album often criticised by fans and reviewers, and many critics heard this follow-up as a return to form. They praised its variety and musicianship, noting that it was heavier and more technical than the band's earlier work. If you want to hear Machine Head tackling an ambitious story with a sharpened attack, this is the one to try.
