Return of the Dream Canteen is the thirteenth studio album by Red Hot Chili Peppers, released on 14 October 2022 through Warner Records as a double LP and a single CD. Rick Rubin produced it, and it came from the same sessions as Unlimited Love, which had appeared only five months earlier. That is the shortest gap between two Chili Peppers albums to date.
It works as the second half of a pair, so it's best heard alongside its predecessor, with the band's alternative rock and funk rock sides both in play. Three singles led the way: "Tippa My Tongue" in August, "Eddie" in September, and "The Drummer", which arrived on the day the album came out. It's a good record for anyone curious about how much the band had to say in one creative burst.
