Nimrod is Green Day's fifth studio album, released on 14 October 1997 on Reprise Records. It followed Insomniac, after the cancellation of a European tour, and was recorded at Conway Recording Studios in Los Angeles. The band wrote it as a set of standalone songs rather than a tightly unified record, and that approach gives it plenty of room to wander.

That variety is what makes it worth a listen. Alongside the punk rock you expect, there are touches of folk, hardcore, surf rock and ska, with lyrics turning to maturity, personal reflection and fatherhood. The acoustic single "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" is the song most people know, and it turned up in the penultimate episode of Seinfeld. Critics praised Billie Joe Armstrong's songwriting, and the album reached number 10 in the US and went double platinum there.
