Diamond Eyes
Diamond Eyes is the sixth studio album by Deftones, the American alternative metal band, and it arrived on 4 May 2010 through Reprise Records. It follows Saturday Night Wrist from 2006, though it was not the record the band first set out to make. An album provisionally called Eros was meant to come next, but work stopped after bassist Chi Cheng was seriously injured in a car accident in November 2008. He fell into a coma and died in 2013.
The band carried on with Sergio Vega on bass, and in June 2009 Eros was shelved in favour of this new set of songs. It was also their first time working with producer Nick Raskulinecz. Diamond Eyes was well received and sold strongly, reaching the top ten of the US Billboard 200 and charting well elsewhere. It was their highest Billboard 200 placing since the self-titled album of 2003, which makes it a good place to hear the band regrouping.
