Set the World on Fire
Set the World on Fire is the third studio album by Canadian band Annihilator, released on 4 May 1993 through Roadrunner Records. It follows Alice in Hell and Never, Neverland, but eases back on the thrash attack of those records in favour of a more radio-friendly sound. Reviews at the time were mixed.
The album did well in Europe, reaching No. 79 in Germany, and in Asia, where it got to No. 47 in Japan. It failed to break America, and the band was dropped by Roadrunner in 1993. Bassist Wayne Darley left soon afterwards, having been unable to enter Japan for the tour. Years on, the title track, "Knight Jumps Queen" and "Brain Dance" are still regulars in the live set and firm fan favourites, which makes this a record worth revisiting.
