Annihilator
Annihilator are a Canadian thrash metal band formed in Ottawa, Ontario, in 1984 by guitarist Jeff Waters. Waters is the one constant in the story, handling guitar, songwriting, production and engineering, with the occasional turn on bass and vocals, while a long run of musicians has come and gone around him. They count among the "second wave" of thrash acts from the late 1980s and early 1990s, and are named alongside Sacrifice, Voivod and Razor as one of Canada's "Big Four" of thrash.
Their first two albums, Alice in Hell (1989) and Never, Neverland (1990), are regarded as influential Canadian metal records, and with King of the Kill (1994) they remain the best-loved entry points. Set the World on Fire (1993) was their only major-label release. Many later records won critical praise and did well in Europe and Japan, and the band is the highest-selling Canadian heavy metal group. Their latest studio album, Metal II, arrived in 2022.
