Arch Enemy

Arch Enemy are a Swedish melodic death metal band from Halmstad, formed in 1995 as a supergroup of players drawn from the extreme metal scene. Guitarist Michael Amott, who had been in Carcass, started the band with singer Johan Liiva, his former bandmate in Carnage. Liiva fronted the group until Angela Gossow, from Germany, took over in 2000.

Their run of studio albums began with Black Earth in 1996 and has reached Blood Dynasty in 2025. Among those, War Eternal, Doomsday Machine, Will to Power and Blood Dynasty are the ones listeners return to most. War Eternal introduced Canadian vocalist Alissa White-Gluz, who replaced Gossow when she moved into management in 2014. White-Gluz left at the end of 2025, and American singer Lauren Hart was announced as the new frontwoman in February 2026. Fans of In Flames, Amon Amarth and Dark Tranquillity will feel at home.
