The Root of All Evil is a studio album by the Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy, released on 28 September 2009. Rather than offering new material, it re-records songs from the band's first three albums: five from Black Earth, three from Stigmata and five from Burning Bridges. The title track is a fresh version of the instrumental Demoniality.

It arrived between Rise of the Tyrant and Khaos Legions, and gives the early catalogue a new setting. The band produced it themselves, with Andy Sneap handling the mixing and mastering. Century Media Records issued it as a jewel case CD, a limited edition mediabook, a digital download and an LP. It suits anyone curious about where Arch Enemy began, or who wants to hear those first records played by the group as it stood in 2009.
