The Neon God, Part 2: The Demise
The Neon God, Part 2: The Demise is W.A.S.P.'s twelfth studio album, released on 28 September 2004 through Gencross. It closes a two-part rock opera, following The Neon God, Part 1: The Rise, which arrived the same year, so the story is best heard in order.
The tale centres on Jesse, an abused and orphaned boy who discovers he can read and manipulate other people. Here the story reaches its second act, giving the heavy metal band another full-length concept piece to sit alongside The Crimson Idol, their earlier narrative-driven album from 1992. If you enjoy metal records that tell a story from start to finish, this pair is worth setting aside an evening for.
