Babylon
Babylon is the fourteenth studio album by the American heavy metal band W.A.S.P., released in October 2009 on Demolition Records. It follows Dominator from 2007 and sits ahead of Golgotha, which arrived in 2015. The record draws on biblical visions of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, giving the band's heavy metal a suitably doom-laden backdrop.
Two covers set it apart. Deep Purple's "Burn" was originally recorded during the Dominator sessions but left off that album. Chuck Berry's "Promised Land" is the other, though it's Elvis Presley's 1973 version the band had in mind, and the track closes with a playful request for one of those peanut butter and banana sandwiches. It's a nice bit of humour on an album built around apocalyptic themes.
