Pull the Pin
Pull the Pin is the sixth studio album by the Welsh rock band Stereophonics, released in October 2007. It followed Language. Sex. Violence. Other? from 2005 and came ahead of Keep Calm and Carry On in 2009. The cover art was shared with fans through the band's newsletter and a Myspace bulletin, and the taster track "Bank Holiday Monday" got its first airing on Radio 1's Chris Moyles Show in May 2007, before going on sale as a download later that month.
It is an awkward chapter in the band's story. Reviews were negative, and sales at the time were the lowest of their career. Even so, it went to number one on the UK Albums Chart, the last of their chart-toppers until Keep the Village Alive arrived almost eight years later in 2015. Its alternative and indie rock leanings make it worth hearing for anyone who wants the full Stereophonics picture, including the less celebrated corners.
