Avenged Sevenfold
Avenged Sevenfold's self-titled fourth album came out on 30 October 2007 through Warner Bros. Records, with Hopeless Records also involved. It was the first record the band produced entirely themselves, and it was made in the middle of 2007. Its release was pushed back from 16 October to allow time to finish the bonus material and production. It sits between City of Evil and Nightmare, and it is the last album to feature The Rev on drums, as he died while Nightmare was being made.
Critics were mixed on it compared with the band's earlier records, but listeners took to it. It entered the Billboard 200 at number 4, went platinum in the US and gold in the UK, and won the Kerrang! Award for Best Album in 2008. Kerrang! later put it among its "666 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die". The mix of heavy metal, hard rock and symphonic touches makes it an intriguing record to revisit.
