Album
Life Is But a Dream…
Life Is But a Dream… is the eighth studio album from Avenged Sevenfold, released on 2 June 2023 through Warner Records. It arrived nearly seven years after The Stage (2016), the longest wait between records in the band's career. As with that album, the band produced it themselves alongside Joe Barresi. It also brought them back to Warner after a legal dispute with the label in the mid-2010s.
The record sits in alternative, heavy and progressive metal territory, and it is the first since Nightmare (2010) to include contributions from the late drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan. Critics praised its themes, its experimental streak and the way it blends different influences and genres. It reached number 13 on the Billboard 200. For anyone who has followed the band since City of Evil, it is a bold, searching chapter.
