Released2 June 1986

Intermission is the first live album from Dio, released on 2 June 1986 by Warner Bros. Records in North America, with Vertigo handling it in Europe. Most of it was recorded on the first leg of the Sacred Heart tour, with Vivian Campbell on guitar, so it captures that line-up on stage before it broke apart.

It also acts as a bridge between two eras. Craig Goldy took over from Campbell in the middle of the tour, and the band cut a studio track with him, "Time to Burn", to mark the change. Some fans had hoped for a double live set and felt a little short-changed, and Campbell's guitar sits rather low in the mix. Even so, it is a useful snapshot of a band in transition. The original UK pressing came with a postcard pack, and in 2012 the material resurfaced as bonus tracks on the deluxe edition of Sacred Heart.
