Somewhere in Time is Iron Maiden's sixth studio album, released on 29 September 1986 through EMI in the UK and Capitol in the US. It followed Powerslave from 1984 and came before Seventh Son of a Seventh Son in 1988. It was the first Maiden record to use guitar synthesisers, a new texture for a band so closely tied to the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.

The record went on to be certified platinum by the RIAA, with more than a million copies sold in the US. The Somewhere on Tour run supported it, and the album returned to the spotlight in 2023, when it shared the focus of the Future Past World Tour with Senjutsu from 2021. For anyone curious about how Maiden stretched their sound without leaving heavy metal behind, it is a rewarding place to listen.
