The First Ten Years
The First Ten Years marked a decade of Iron Maiden on record with a series of ten CDs and double 12" singles, issued between February and April 1990. Each instalment gathered two singles with their original B-sides and artwork, so it works as a tidy tour of the band's singles career rather than a conventional best-of.
Each release also included "Listen with Nicko", a spoken-word track in which drummer Nicko McBrain talked through the history behind the songs on that part. Vouchers from all ten could be sent off by post for a limited edition storage box. A companion video collection, The First Ten Years: The Videos, brought together all 16 of the band's promo clips up to "Holy Smoke", on VHS and laserdisc.
