Shake Your Money Maker
Shake Your Money Maker is the debut album from the American band the Black Crowes, released on 13 February 1990 on Def American Recordings. It is the only record to feature guitarist Jeff Cease. The title nods to an Elmore James blues song, which the band have played live many times over the years but which doesn't appear on the album itself.
It made the top four on the Billboard 200, and both "Hard to Handle" and "She Talks to Angels" reached No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. "Jealous Again", "Twice As Hard" and "Seeing Things" also charted in the United States. With more than five million copies sold, it remains the band's biggest seller, and it makes a strong case for blues-rooted southern rock as a living thing. A 30th anniversary edition followed in February 2021, adding remasters, unreleased songs, demos and a 1990 live set from Atlanta.
