Warpaint
Warpaint is the seventh studio album by The Black Crowes, a blues rock record released on 3 March 2008. It arrived almost seven years after Lions, and it marked a fresh start in several ways: Luther Dickinson and Adam MacDougall joined the band for it, and it was the first record put out on the band's own label, Silver Arrow.
In the band's story, it is the comeback that followed a long gap in the studio catalogue and came before Happiness Bastards in 2024. It's worth hearing for the way the new line-up shapes the Crowes' blues-rooted rock sound. The album also did well on release, entering the US chart at number five, fifteen places higher than Lions had managed, even though that earlier record went on to sell more copies.
