Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace
Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace is the eighth studio album by the American punk rock band The Offspring, released on 11 June 2008. It arrived five years after Splinter, the longest gap between their studio albums up to that point. The band had been working on new material since the autumn of 2004, but it was November 2006 before they announced they had started recording with producer Bob Rock.
The writing and recording stretched over four years and three studios, wrapping up in April 2008. The wait produced four singles: "Hammerhead", "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid", "Kristy, Are You Doing Okay?" and "Half-Truism". For anyone who followed the band from Smash onwards, it's the record that shows how they sounded after a long pause, and the singles are the place to start.
