The Offspring

The Offspring are an American punk band from Garden Grove, California, who started out in 1984 under the name Manic Subsidal. Their sound runs through punk rock, pop punk and skate punk, and they played a big part in bringing punk back to mainstream attention in the 1990s. Dexter Holland and Noodles are still at the front of the line-up today.

Smash, released in 1994 on the independent label Epitaph, is the one to start with. It brought them "Come Out and Play" and sold over 11 million copies worldwide, making it one of the biggest independent releases ever. After signing to Columbia, they followed it with Ixnay on the Hombre, then Americana, home to "Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)" and "Why Don't You Get a Job?". It reached number two on the Billboard 200. Conspiracy of One is also well worth a spin.
