Goo Goo Dolls
The Goo Goo Dolls are a rock band from Buffalo, New York, built around singer and guitarist John Rzeznik and bassist and vocalist Robby Takac, with a rotating cast of other members alongside them. They began as a cover band before finding a punk sound, and their first album arrived in 1987. Their style has since moved through alternative rock, pop punk, power pop and acoustic-flavoured pop rock.
The breakthrough came with "Name", from 1995's A Boy Named Goo. Dizzy Up the Girl followed in 1998 and brought "Slide", "Black Balloon", "Broadway" and "Iris", which spent eleven consecutive months on the Billboard Hot 100. Later records such as Gutterflower (2002) and Let Love In (2006) kept the hits coming, including "Here Is Gone" and "Better Days". The band has sold 15 million records worldwide and earned four Grammy nominations.
