Superstar Car Wash
Superstar Car Wash is the fourth studio album by Goo Goo Dolls, released on 23 February 1993. It takes its name from a real car washing business on William Street, just outside downtown Buffalo, the band's hometown. The record sits between Hold Me Up and A Boy Named Goo, and its sound mixes alternative rock, power pop, jangle pop and pop punk.
The story behind "We Are the Normal" is a good one. John Rzeznik wrote it with his idol, Paul Westerberg of The Replacements, though the two worked by post and never shared a studio. "Fallin' Down" turned up in the 1993 Pauly Shore film Son in Law, and "So Far Away" began life as "Dancing In Your Blood", with different lyrics, sparser instrumentation and a slightly altered melody. Several tracks were remixed for the 2001 compilation What I Learned About Ego, Opinion, Art & Commerce.
