Songs of Darkness, Words of Light is the eighth studio album by English doom metal band My Dying Bride, released in February 2004 on Peaceville. It followed The Dreadful Hours from 2001 and came before A Line of Deathless Kings in 2006, so it sits in the middle of a career that began with As the Flower Withers in 1992.

The record is worth knowing for the arrival of keyboardist Sarah Stanton, who makes her debut here. Early copies came in a hard clamshell case with a double-sided poster and a fridge magnet, a treatment the band repeated for the next album. For anyone tracing how the band's sound developed through the 2000s, this is a natural place to stop and listen.
