As the Flower Withers is the debut studio album by English doom metal band My Dying Bride, released on 26 May 1992 through Peaceville. It places them at the very start of a catalogue that now runs to fifteen studio albums, beginning here and continuing through Turn Loose the Swans in 1993 and on to A Mortal Binding in 2024.

The record blends doom metal with death metal, and it stands apart from everything that followed. It is the only full-length My Dying Bride album on which vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe uses his death growl as his sole vocal style, so it offers the band at their rawest and heaviest. The sleeve art was designed by Dave McKean. For anyone tracing how the band developed, this is the place to begin.
