Revenge
Revenge is the sixteenth studio album by Kiss, released on 19 May 1992 through Mercury Records. It was the first record to feature drummer Eric Singer, who stepped in after the death of Eric Carr in November 1991. Carr still appears on it, and the album is dedicated to him. The closing track, "Carr Jam 1981", is a demo he recorded not long after joining the band in 1980, with Bruce Kulick's guitar dubbed over Ace Frehley's original part. Its main riff had already turned up in Frehley's Comet's "Breakout" in 1987.
Musically, it marks a turn away from the pop-leaning glam metal of much of the band's 1980s work towards a heavier sound. It reached the Top 20 in several countries, though it did not bring Kiss back to the mainstream, and it went gold in the US that July. It's worth hearing as the band's heavier reset, and as a farewell to Carr.
