Smashes, Thrashes & Hits
Smashes, Thrashes & Hits is a compilation from the American hard rock band Kiss, released on 15 November 1988. It was their fourth hits collection overall, but only the second to come out in the United States, as Killers and Chikara were not originally issued there. Fifteen songs are included: ten from the years in make-up, three from after the band removed it in 1983, and two brand-new tracks.
Those newcomers, "Let's Put the X in Sex" and "(You Make Me) Rock Hard", were both produced and co-written by Paul Stanley, and each got a video. The real draw for devoted fans is the tinkering with the older material, since nearly all the original line-up recordings were remixed or altered in some way. "Beth" is the standout curiosity, re-recorded with drummer Eric Carr on lead vocals, his first on a Kiss album. He had replaced Peter Criss in 1980.
