Hard & Hot
Hard & Hot (Best of Bon Jovi) was the band's first compilation, released on 2 December 1991 through Phonogram and issued only in Australia. It draws on their first three albums: Bon Jovi, 7800° Fahrenheit and Slippery When Wet, so it covers the stretch from their New Jersey beginnings to the record that made them a household name.
Its real value lies in the early material. Neither of the first two albums had charted in Australia when they came out in 1984 and 1985, so this was the first time many listeners there heard those songs. The collection reached number 44 on the Australian Music Report albums chart and spent seven weeks in the top 100. It arrived just before Keep the Faith, and it makes a handy snapshot of the band's glam metal and hard rock roots.
