7800° Fahrenheit
7800° Fahrenheit is the second studio album by American rock band Bon Jovi, released on 27 March 1985 through Mercury Records. It follows their 1984 debut and sits just before Slippery When Wet and New Jersey, the records that would define their late-1980s run. The title nods to the supposed melting point of rock, a tongue-in-cheek way of selling the band's idea of "American hot rock". Its sleeve also introduced the band's classic 1980s logo, which carried on through the next two albums.
Musically, it sits in hard rock and glam metal territory with a pop sheen. "Only Lonely" and "In and Out of Love" both reached the Billboard Hot 100. The album spent 104 weeks on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum by the RIAA in February 1987. It is a worthwhile listen for anyone who wants to hear the band in their formative years, before the biggest breakthrough.
