Metal Black
Metal Black is Venom's eleventh studio album, released in March 2006 through Castle Music. It follows Under a Spell from 2003 and comes two years before Hell, placing it in the later stretch of a career that began with Welcome to Hell in 1981.
The title is a sly turn on Black Metal, the band's 1982 record and one of their best-known LPs. That nod to their own history is part of the appeal, and the album is rooted in the black and thrash metal sound the band helped shape. It also marks the final appearance of Mykvs on guitar, so it is of interest to anyone tracing how Venom's line-up shifted through the 2000s.
