French Assault is an EP by Venom, released in 1985. It appeared in the UK and Europe in November of that year.
It arrived in the middle of a busy stretch for the band. Possessed, their fourth studio album, also came out in 1985, following At War With Satan the year before and the early records Welcome to Hell and Black Metal. For anyone following the Newcastle band's story through the mid-1980s, this EP is a small but telling piece of that run, sitting alongside the full-length releases rather than replacing them. It is one for completists and for listeners who want to hear how Venom kept up their pace during those years.
