Venom ’96
Venom '96 is an EP released in 1996 by the Newcastle upon Tyne band Venom. It arrived in the middle of a reunion, as the "classic" line-up of Jeffrey "Mantas" Dunn, Conrad "Cronos" Lant and Anthony "Abaddon" Bray had come back together in 1995 after the band's hiatus in 1992.
It sits between the group's early-1990s albums and Cast in Stone, which followed in 1997. For anyone tracing the story of the band whose first two records, Welcome to Hell and Black Metal, helped shape extreme metal and gave black metal its name, it is a small marker of the original trio working together again.
