Possessed

Possessed is the fourth studio album by Venom, the English band whose heavy, speed and black metal sound shaped much of what followed in extreme music. It came out on Neat Records in 1985, following At War with Satan, and it was the first Venom record made outside Impulse Studios. It was also the last studio album to feature guitarist Jeffrey Dunn before he left in 1986.

Much of the material was written before At War with Satan appeared, though critics at the time were unsure what to make of it. Reviews were mixed, even among those who had liked the earlier records. The title track later landed at No. 14 on the Parents Music Resource Center's "Filthy Fifteen", its list of the songs it found most objectionable. The sleeve shows a boy who is the son of drummer Abaddon and a girl who is the niece of producer Keith Nichol.
