The Collection is a compilation from Black Sabbath, issued in the UK and Europe by Castle Music. Fifteen tracks span the band's first eight albums, so it covers the Ozzy Osbourne-era run from Black Sabbath (1970) through to Never Say Die! (1978). Most of those records contribute two songs each, while Master of Reality is represented by one.

It suits anyone wanting a compact tour of the band's 1970s heavy metal output without committing to the full studio catalogue. Castle put out two CD versions in the UK, both with identical cover art and track listings, so the choice between them comes down to whichever copy turns up.
