Popularity21.7

Black Box gathers the first eight Black Sabbath albums, all made with Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward. It runs from the 1970 debut to Never Say Die! in 1978, the record after which Osbourne was fired and the original line-up came to an end. Rhino released it on 27 April 2004, and every album was remastered from the original Warner Bros. tape archives. It replaced a 1996 box set that had been made without the band's input.

The nine discs sit in a black case with gothic lettering, each album in a digipak with its original artwork. The debut has a revised running order, so both "Evil Woman" and "Wicked World" appear. An 80-page booklet carries essays, interviews, a timeline and lyrics checked by Butler, plus notes by Henry Rollins. A bonus DVD adds four videos, including "Iron Man".
