Greatest Hits 1970–1978
Greatest Hits 1970–1978 is a Black Sabbath compilation issued by Rhino on 14 March 2006. It gathers material from the original line-up only, drawing on every album the band made with Ozzy Osbourne, from the self-titled debut of 1970 through to Never Say Die! in 1978. It appeared to coincide with the band's induction into the American Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
For anyone who wants the Osbourne years in one sweep, it makes a tidy starting point, covering eight studio albums across the decade. It reached number 96 on the Billboard 200 in April 2006 and stayed on the chart for ten weeks. Heaven and Hell, the first record with a different singer, falls outside its scope, so the focus stays on the group that began it all.
