Extreme
Extreme's self-titled debut arrived in March 1989 on A&M Records. It is the first of six studio albums from the American band, and it sets out their stall as a blend of hard rock, funk metal and pop metal. The record climbed to No. 80 on the Billboard 200, and "Kid Ego" became a minor hit on the Mainstream Rock chart.
The track most people will know is "Play with Me", which turned up on the soundtrack to the comedy film Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. It later resurfaced in the opening episode of Stranger Things 4 and in the 2007 rhythm game Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s. Anyone who knows the band mainly from their 1990 follow-up, Extreme II: Pornograffitti (A Funked Up Fairy Tale), will find this an interesting place to go back to and hear where it all began.
