Trash arrived on 25 July 1989 on Epic, and it gave Alice Cooper one of the biggest successes of his career. It was his eleventh solo album and eighteenth studio record overall, following Constrictor and Raise Your Fist and Yell, and it leaned squarely into the glam metal sound of the day. It reached number two in the UK and number 20 in the US, and went on to sell more than 4.5 million copies.

The lead single, "Poison", became his first top ten hit since "You and Me" in 1977. The sessions drew on a sharp group of players: John McCurry on guitar, Hugh McDonald of Bon Jovi on bass, and Bobby Chouinard and Alan St. Jon, both from Billy Squier's band, on drums and keyboards. If you want to hear Cooper at his most polished and chart-minded, this is the record to start with.
