Album
The Real Thing
The Real Thing is the third studio album by American band Faith No More, and it arrived on 20 June 1989 through Slash and Reprise Records. It follows Introduce Yourself from 1987 and marks a clear turning point in the group's story, as it is the first record to feature singer Mike Patton, who replaced the dismissed Chuck Mosley.
The band had already been mixing styles, and here they pushed their range further, blending alternative metal, funk metal and rap metal with hard rock and alternative rock. It is worth hearing as the moment a restless, genre-hopping group found a new voice, and as the starting point for the run of records that followed, beginning with Angel Dust in 1992.
