Album of the Year
Album of the Year is the sixth studio album by Faith No More, released on 3 June 1997 through Slash. It was the first record to feature guitarist Jon Hudson, and it turned out to be the band's last before an eleven-year hiatus that began in 1998. AllMusic called it more straightforward musically than its predecessors, a notable shift for a band known for restless, genre-hopping records.
It did best abroad, reaching number one in Australia and New Zealand, going Platinum in Australia and also finding success in Germany. In the United States the band's commercial and critical decline continued, and only "Last Cup of Sorrow" charted there. "Ashes to Ashes" and "Stripsearch" were the other singles, each with a video. Different editions appeared in 1997 with B-sides and remixes, and a remastered deluxe edition followed in 2016.
