The Deram Anthology 1966–1968
The Deram Anthology 1966–1968 gathers most of David Bowie's early work for Deram Records, laid out in chronological order. It includes his 1967 debut album in full, running from tracks five to eighteen, along with the earlier material that came before it. The final four tracks were mixed and recorded in 1969, after Deram had dropped him. They were made for the promotional film "Love You Till Tuesday", which was meant to sell Bowie to a new label, so Deram had no hand in them.
It was released on 9 June 1997 and shows Bowie in his first years as a recording artist, well before the run that began with The Man Who Sold the World. It was originally planned as a two-disc set with several unreleased songs, but Bowie vetoed those, so the collection sticks to material that had already appeared in some form. For anyone curious about where he started, it is a tidy single route through those years.
